Natural light, no filter works best
Head size
How would you describe your head size?
This determines your base loc count. When in doubt, go medium.
Loc size
What size locs are you getting?
Smaller locs mean more of them. Your loctician can help you decide at your consultation.
Coverage area
What area of your head are you installing on?
Hair texture
What is your natural hair texture?
Kinky and coily hair provides the best grip for permanent locs and supports the highest loc count. Softer textures have less natural hold, which reduces how many locs can be properly anchored for long-term wear.
Hair density
How would you describe the overall amount of hair on your head?
Thick, full hair supports the highest loc count. Low density hair has less to work with, so fewer locs can be properly installed.
Thinning and breakage
Do you have any areas of thinning, breakage, or damage?
Damaged or thinning areas cannot support proper loc installation and must be skipped. Your count reflects only the healthy hair that can actually hold a permanent loc.
Existing hair
Are you adding extensions to existing locs or installing on loose natural hair?
Almost there!
